Studies on Explanted Orthopedic Implants

چکیده
One of the basic functions of the human body is mobility. When the mobile function can no longer be performed, a number of problems arise. Orthopaedic implants are medical devices made of one or more biocompatible materials that are placed inside the human body in order to replace the damaged parts and take over their biological functions. The purpose of this paper is to present a series of analyses on two bipolar prosthetic components made of high-density polyethylene recovered after revision surgery.

This paper deals with detailed corrosion analysis of explanted devices. The study of total 6 different types of orthopedic metallic implant was carried out after collecting the clinical report from the doctors, who performed these implantations. The clinical report covered the purpose of implantation, body part where implantation was done, and physiological reasons of removal of implant. The me...
متن کاملApplication of Orthodontic Immediate Force on Dental Implants: Histomorphologic and Histomorphometric Assessment
AIMS Application of force to implants is helpful, especially in orthodontic-implant therapies. The aim of this study was a histomorphologic and histomorphometric evaluation of peri-implant bone after immediate orthodontic and orthopedic forces comparing them with a control group. MATERIALS AND METHODS Eighteen dental titanium implants were inserted in the premolar region of three dogs. Implan...

Bone disorders are of significant worry due to their increased prevalence in the median age. Scaffold-based bonetissue engineering holds great promise for the future of osseous defects therapies. Porous composite materials andfunctional coatings for metallic implants have been introduced in next generation of orthopedic medicine for tissueengineering. While osteoconductive materials such as hyd...
متن کاملDevelopment and Evaluation of Polyvinyl Alcohol-Hydrogels as an Artificial Atrticular Cartilage for Orthopedic Implants
Due to its excellent biocompatibility and mechanical properties, various different applications of polyvinyl alcohol-hydrogels (PVA-H) has been attempted in many fields. In the field of orthopedic surgery, we have been engaged for long time in research on the clinical applications of PVA-H as a artificial cartilage, and have performed many basic experiments on the mechanical properties, synthes...
